Akçakoca has a range of places to stay, from beachfront hotels to guesthouses, bungalows and campsites. We don't recommend businesses on this page; we explain which area will suit you.
Which area should you stay in?
Types of accommodation
- Beachfront and boutique hotels: mostly in the centre and along the coast.
- Guesthouses and rooms in homes: a tradition in Akçakoca since the 1950s, when locals opened their homes to tourists because the hotels were full.
- Bungalows, camping and caravans: especially in the western coves and near nature areas. Pitching a tent on the beach is forbidden; details on the campsites page.
- Public guesthouses: there are also public facilities such as the teachers' house and the forestry and highways guesthouses. Addresses and official numbers are on the teachers' house and public guesthouses page.
When to book?
Book early for July–August and festival periods. On summer weekends the town's population doubles or triples, with tens of thousands of day visitors. Finding a room on weekdays and out of season is much easier.
Akçakoca's accommodation establishments recorded about 153,000 arrivals in 2022 (Düzce Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism).
Good to know while you stay
- Prices vary greatly with the season, the day of the week and whether the room has a sea view; before booking, ask what is included (breakfast, parking, beach).
- If you come without a car, stay in the centre; public transport to villages and waterfalls is scarce.
- If you stay in the centre, the pharmacy on duty and important phone numbers may come in handy.
