Akçakoca campsites

Where are the camping and caravan sites, can you pitch a tent on the beach, can you light a fire in the forest? What to know before you camp.

Akçakoca has been popular with campers since the 1950s. But you need to choose the right place: pitching a tent on the municipal beaches is forbidden. For camping and caravans, use the commercially run campsites along the coast. We don't recommend businesses on this page; we explain where to camp and the rules.

Can you pitch a tent on the beach?

No. In summer 2026 Akçakoca Municipality renewed the warning signs on its beaches. They state that pitching tents, camping and lighting fires are forbidden. The municipal beaches are for day use; don't plan to spend the night in a tent on the sand.

Where are the campsites?

1
West: the Karaburun–Melenağzı stretchThe area with the most campsites. On the Karasu road (D010), close to Kalkın, Karaburun and Paşalar beaches. Most are near the sea and offer tent and caravan pitches; some have bungalows.
2
Around EdilliCamping and caravan sites west of the centre, near the stream mouth.
3
Close to nature: towards Aktaş and KurugölFor those who want to combine a waterfall and canyon trip with camping. There are few organised facilities in this area; spend the night at a commercially run site.

Most campsites are open only in the summer season; opening and closing dates change every year. Call ahead and book a pitch.
