Aktaş Waterfall is south-west of Akçakoca centre, about 3 km from Aktaş village. It drops from a height of about 50 metres in a valley surrounded by dense forest.
You can also reach the waterfall on foot. The medium-difficulty trail of about 10 km starts at the Göktepe turn-off on the ring road and follows the stream up the Aktaş Valley to the waterfall.
The water is at its fullest in spring, with snowmelt and rain. On hot summer days it's also a good escape to the cool of the forest.
Before you go
- The road can be narrow and rough in the last few kilometres; drive slowly.
- The rocks are slippery; wear shoes with good grip.
- If you're doing the trail, take water and get back before dark.
