Arabacı village is south of Akçakoca centre. It is one of the Manav villages, among the district's oldest settlements, and is surrounded by hazelnut orchards.
During the hazelnut harvest in August–September you can see village life up close. May is wild strawberry season, and August–September is blackberry season.
In Akçakoca's villages you can see carved wooden granaries on stilts called "serender". The conical caps on top of the stilts are there to keep mice out.
Before you go
- The orchards are private property; ask permission before picking hazelnuts or fruit.
- At harvest time there is tractor traffic on the village roads; drive slowly.
